36 hours — A Perfect Travel Guide

By Heather Bolen

I’m not sure if I pick up the Sunday Times first and foremost for the crossword or to read about the week’s featured destination in 36 Hours. Either way, it’s a race!

In March 2020, The New York Times stopped publishing its popular 36 Hours column due to the pandemic. Fortunately, the newspaper relaunched the column in October 2022, kicking things off with 36 hours in the paper’s hometown: New York City.

The travel column offers expert itineraries, along with vivid, high-quality photos, for a weekend getaway in cities around the world.

You all know, I’m a huge fan of Taschen Books, so it’s a delight that they team up with The New York Times to bring together the crème de la crème of this series in beautifully-formated, bestselling volumes. If you are traveling or moving to Europe or the United States, the New York Times 36 Hours travel books are the perfect gift. For yourself or a loved one. They’re practical and look great on the coffee table!
