FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY?

Travel & Culture Salon strives to operate in an environmentally responsible, socially accountable, and governance-focused manner.

MADE OF DEMAND:

All products are made to order. This means we only start making your item(s) once you have placed your order. We hold no stock, nor do we produce products beyond need. Therefore, we are able to reduce waste and the environmental impact of overproduction.

EFFICIENT SHIPPING:

Our onesies are printed and shipped from fulfillment centers closest to our customers’ locations allowing for faster shipping times and lower shipping costs, and it also helps with reducing the CO₂ emissions produced when transporting orders.

All other products are made in one facility in London and then shipped directly to you. Producing under one roof allows us to keep our shipping costs and carbon emissions low.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING:

All of our onesies are shipped in 70-100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic packaging.

For all products, we prioritize the use of sustainable packaging materials whenever possible. This includes materials that are recycled and recyclable, as well as biodegradable and compostable materials when appropriate. Paper is used as much as possible.

To maintain our sustainability principles, we do not offer gift packaging and strive to minimize the amount of packaging used. Your order may arrive in plain Jane packaging, but it’s not because we don’t love you. We just love the Earth too!

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS & PRODUCTS:

All products are printed with OEKO-Tex-certified inks. This label certifies that every component of the product, from the fabric to the thread and accessories, has been rigorously tested against a list of up to 350 toxic chemicals. Since 1992, STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® has been the world's best-known label for textile safety.

Our onesies are made with 100% combed, ring-spun AirLume cotton jersey. AirLume fabrics are dyed using only the most environmentally responsible dyes, minimizing the impact on our planet. Moreover, the manufacturing process consumes a mere fraction — 7x less — water than the industry average.

Affiliate Products: We try to partner with companies that share our sustainability principles. However, Travel & Culture Salon does not guarantee the sustainability practices, policies, and products of affiliate partners.

WHY DOES MY CLOTHING SMELL LIKE VINEGAR?

Our clothing is printed with the direct-to-garment (DTG) printing method. The printing tech we use is made with sustainability in mind, and our DTG printers use almost zero wastewater and less energy, lowering our carbon footprint.

The inks we use for printing are water-based and free of harmful chemicals. We take care to dispose of any left-over ink according to the ink supplier guidelines, so we’re not harming the environment.

When unpacking a new item of clothing with a DTG print, you might notice a vinegar-like smell or an off-white residue. Don’t worry, that’s not unusual - it’s from a fixation agent applied during the printing process, and it’s not permanent. It will disappear after the first wash.
